Hit Shopify's B2B catalogue limit?
Here's the workaround.
A catalogue in Shopify B2B is not a product list. It is a pricing tier wearing a product list. That is why the cap bites so early: the moment your business has more ways to price than Shopify has catalogue slots, you are choosing which customers get the wrong price. This page explains why the limit exists, who hits it first, and the three workarounds — including the one that costs you nothing in margin.

The mechanic
Why one catalogue equals one pricing tier
Native B2B attaches pricing to a catalogue, and a catalogue to a company location. To give an account a different price, you need a different catalogue. There is no per-customer price object underneath, so pricing granularity and catalogue count are the same number.
The consequence is arithmetic, not opinion. Count your distinct pricing arrangements — trade tiers, distributor rate, regional adjustments, the two legacy accounts on grandfathered terms — and that is how many catalogues you need. It is almost always more than you are allowed.
Who hits it
The four businesses that hit the cap in week one
This is not an edge case. It is the normal shape of a wholesale book once it is more than a year old.
- Tiered wholesalers: bronze / silver / gold plus a distributor rate is already four.
- Multi-region sellers: the same tier priced differently by country or currency doubles the count.
- Merchants with strategic accounts: one bespoke rate for the biggest buyer, negotiated annually.
- Anyone running promotional pricing: a seasonal trade rate is another catalogue, not a discount code.
Option one
Collapse tiers — and pay for it in margin
The most common response is to average. Three tiers become one, priced somewhere in the middle so nobody is badly wrong.
The cost is invisible and continuous. Your best-value accounts now buy below the rate they had accepted, and your smallest accounts pay a rate that makes them shop around. You will not see this in a report; you will see it in a slowly softening blended margin.
Option two
Quote manually outside the catalogue system
Some merchants keep native B2B for the top two tiers and handle everything else as manual draft orders built by hand from a spreadsheet.
It works at ten accounts. At forty it becomes a full-time job, and it reintroduces the error class that wholesale software exists to remove: a human typing a price that no longer matches the price list.
Option three
Move pricing into an uncapped price-list layer
The structural fix is to stop expressing pricing as catalogues. Hasil holds pricing as per-customer price lists with quantity breaks, assigned to customers or customer groups. There is no cap, because a price list is a row in a table rather than a storefront object you maintain by hand.
Hasil connects through Shopify's official OAuth — no App Store install, no theme edits. Buyers order through a gated portal at their resolved price, and the order lands in Shopify as a draft order so invoicing, tax and fulfilment do not change. If Odoo is your source of truth, price lists can be generated from it rather than typed twice.
- Unlimited price lists and customer groups
- Quantity breaks per product, per customer
- Draft orders into Shopify — no funds ever touched
- Odoo-driven pricing, stress-tested at 1,000 requests per hour
Migration
Getting your compressed tiers back
Import the catalogues you have, then split the ones you had merged. Most merchants recover one or two tiers they had abandoned to fit inside the cap, and that recovery is measurable on the first month's orders.
Nothing about the customer-facing checkout changes, so there is no re-training of buyers and no migration window where orders cannot be placed.

FAQ
Shopify B2B catalogue limit — common questions
How many B2B catalogues does Shopify allow?+
Shopify's native B2B caps the number of catalogues a store can run, and merchants on standard plans hit that cap far sooner than they expect because each catalogue is effectively one pricing tier. Check the current limit in your admin under Customers → Companies → Catalogs; the number is enforced at creation time, so you find out when you try to add the tier you already promised a customer.
What is the workaround for the Shopify catalogue limit?+
There are three real options. Collapse tiers into fewer catalogues and accept the margin loss. Run manual quotes and draft orders outside the catalogue system, which does not scale past a handful of accounts. Or move pricing out of catalogues entirely into a per-customer price-list layer that has no cap — which is what Hasil does while leaving Shopify checkout, invoicing and fulfilment untouched.
Can I create one catalogue per customer?+
Not at any meaningful scale. Even where the platform permits several catalogues, the number is small and every extra catalogue is another object you maintain by hand whenever a cost price changes. Per-customer pricing needs a data model where a price list is cheap to create and can be generated from your ERP, not clicked together in an admin.
Does upgrading to Shopify Plus remove the cap?+
Plus raises platform limits generally and gives you higher API throughput, but it is an expensive way to buy pricing tiers, and it does not solve the underlying problem — that catalogues are maintained manually and have no link to your ERP. Merchants who upgrade for this reason usually end up adding a pricing layer anyway.
Will moving pricing out of catalogues break my checkout?+
No. Hasil resolves the correct per-customer price and pushes the order into Shopify as a draft order. Your Shopify checkout, tax configuration, invoicing and fulfilment stay exactly where they are. Hasil never handles funds.
How do I migrate my existing catalogues?+
Import your current catalogues as price lists, then split the ones you had collapsed back into the tiers you actually sell at. Because price lists are not capped, the tiers you compressed to fit the limit can be restored on day one — which is usually where the first margin recovery shows up.
