Shopify B2B Features in 2026: What's Included and What Still Isn't
Shopify's native B2B is far better than merchants assume and stops in places they do not expect. This is the included-versus-missing list, without the sales gloss.
What Shopify B2B includes
- Company records with multiple locations and contacts per company.
- Per-company catalogs with fixed prices or percentage-off price lists.
- Quantity rules — minimums, maximums, and increments per variant.
- Payment terms (net 15/30/60) and deposit handling on the order.
- B2B-only login on the main storefront, with retail hidden from those accounts.
For a merchant already on Plus with a catalog that lives in Shopify, this covers most of the job.
The first gap: it is Plus-only
Native B2B requires Shopify Plus. That is roughly $2,300/month, which is a rational spend at scale and an irrational one for a merchant doing $30k/month wholesale on top of a standard plan.
Below that line, the honest options are a tag-based app in your theme, or an external portal that writes draft orders back into your existing store.
The second gap: your prices probably live somewhere else
Shopify B2B assumes Shopify is the source of truth for price and stock. If your ERP owns those — as it does for most merchants running Odoo, NetSuite, or SAP — you now maintain two catalogs by hand, and they diverge within a week.
This is a sync problem, not a B2B problem, and no B2B feature set solves it. You need a connector that owns direction per field and reconciles on a schedule.
The third gap: negotiated pricing at account level
Per-company catalogs handle tiers well. They get administratively heavy when twelve key accounts each have four negotiated SKUs and everything else on their tier price, because each exception is another catalog to maintain and re-check after every price change.
What most merchants want is a group price list with per-customer overrides layered on top — group rules first, exceptions second, one place to audit both.
The fourth gap: the retail storefront is still the storefront
B2B buyers log into the same theme your retail customers use, competing with promo banners, upsell apps, and CRO experiments built for a different buyer. For high-volume reorder buyers, a stripped catalog with SKU search and quantity entry converts better than any retail theme.
How to decide
- On Plus, catalog in Shopify, tier pricing only → native B2B, nothing else needed.
- On Plus, catalog in an ERP → native B2B plus a sync layer.
- Not on Plus, tiered or negotiated pricing → an external portal writing draft orders.
- Not on Plus, flat discount, under ~15 accounts → a tagging app is enough.
Frequently asked
- Is Shopify B2B available without Shopify Plus?
- No. Companies, per-company catalogs, and B2B payment terms are Plus features. Standard plans reach the same outcome with a tag-based app or an external wholesale portal that creates draft orders.
- Does Shopify B2B support volume discounts?
- Yes, through quantity rules and price lists per catalog. Deeply negotiated per-SKU exceptions across many accounts become administratively heavy because each exception lives in its own catalog.
- Can Shopify B2B pull prices from an ERP?
- Not natively. Shopify B2B assumes Shopify holds price and stock, so an ERP-backed catalog needs a connector that owns field direction and reconciles on a schedule.
- Do B2B buyers use the same storefront as retail customers?
- In native Shopify B2B, yes — they log in and see B2B pricing on the same theme. A separate portal gives reorder buyers a stripped catalog with SKU search instead.
